Any F-4 Phantom pilots or aviators out there?

Postby Misfit » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:34 pm

I collect US bayonets and some knives. I have acquired an F-4 Phantom pilot egress knife. It's about 8 inches in total length and very heavy. It's designed to break the canopy should it become necessary. It looks as though it could break anything! My question is: where was it stowed in the cockpit?

On the F4 it was usually located on the left inner canopy frame as can be seen in this photo. It is painted red in this particular canopy.

In the A10 it is located on the right inner canopy frame. Here it is painted black.

In the F100 is located next to the instrument panel on the upper right behind the right windshield frame. It is painted yellow here.

Thank you so much for the pictures. These pictures are important to identifying and cataloging the placement and use of this often neglected area of knife collecting. Thanks again.
