This aircraft had the wings removed and the fuselage/tail feathers trucked to Pensacola Fl. The wing section was temporarily stored at the San Diego Aerospace museum annex at KSEE. My hangar is across from this facility and I got a few shots of the wing section. Remember this thing spent sixty five years underwater!. It looks well preserved. I especially like the pitot tube markings.
The wing has now been moved to Fl to be with restored and reunited with its fuselage.

Machine gun still had its barrel plug in place , tires full of air!. Neat to think the last time this wing was parked it was on the USS Wasp!

Nice story. I got to look over a Helldiver that was at the Museum of war in Athens Greece. Very interesting to check out and It looked very sturdy, but a bit weird in it's shape.
