Reproduction skate rail for sale on the Vintage Military Vehicles website. $50 per foot. Scroll down about 2/3 of the page to find the rail.
Cheers, Terry.

Terry, thanks for posting that image and link.

John only sells the rail in "smaller sections" as he indicated. He did say he sold a scout car to a man who owns an industrial fabrication shop. That is where John gets the $50 per foot sections of the rail which the man is making. The man was going to make scout car armor and what not. John will ask him if he is planning on making skate rails also. John said he had the detailed US Gov plans for the rail. Not sure if he means the ones in the SNL or the actual detailed drawings from the archives. :? I should know more by next Friday. I probably would not be interested if there were going to be several middle men marking up the price, (which I told John) but if the man will make and sell direct, it might be a good thing if we had 5-10 committed buyers. (of course we all should be committed anyway as nuts as we are)

I would be willing to buy four rails myself. I own three of the last rail kits made and they were not formed correctly and take a lot of additional work. As a fabricator myself I am not sure how this person could possibly charge 2500.00 a rail and not be working for free. Will they be in kit form? Any mounting brackets at that cost? Heck you would have that much into the materials and brackets these days. Unless you get enough guys together to make an extrusion run I don’t see how it’s possible

Great questions all. Not sure where this will go. I'll post whatever I find.

Ok
Put me in for a skate rail also, here’s one more guy needing one to generate some interest in making them. You have to have one to make the final project look right, so yes I would say we have enough interest generated for someone to start reproducing them. I have seen posted at least 4 cars right now in various stages of restoration, and probably more being done that haven’t been posted.

I am developing Scout Car Skate Rail. For the project to be correct, I need help with the dimensions of the parts. If I get help, I will be ready to share the drawings of the details of the Skate Rail.

Hey. I do not plan to make a skate rail to order. I create it for myself. If I can make the necessary drawings for myself, I am ready to share them for free with those who helped.

After all the other money you spent getting an 80 yr old hunk of armor plate bought, parts sourced, and restored what’s a little bit more on a skate rail?

I would like to clarify about the Skate Rail options:
Type 1: welded frame construction
Type 2: attachment to armor with brackets
in which period were Skate Rail of the first type installed and in what period was Skate Rail of the second type installed?

I have seen several scout car picutres from Australia and notice many of them have used flat metal instead of the I-type. Guess that was a matter of supply and demand?
