Re: M20 Survivor List
Well GBK-54-C (Hull #47) is now titled properly and preparing to start the restoration. A good friend and vehicle restorer has accepted the job. I am taking it the slow route so the restoration should take 3-4 years. I have been given the OK by my friend to help with the work so I can have a hand in the restoration. Looking forward to the first trip through the Drive Through at McD's.

Re: M20 Survivor List
As far as anyone can tell all M20's were built at the Chicago Plant. M8's were built at both Chicage and St. Paul.

Re: M20 Survivor List
Hah! You'll find out pretty quick that drive-throughs are not your friend when you are in a hull. Your arms won't be that long. I've told this story.....Back when the Golden Gate Bridge had human toll-takers in booths, I drove up in my M20, the wide lane of course, and the lady was too dumbfounded to count axles to decide what to charge me. Stared for a while and didn't react to the $20 bill I was waving hoping she would leave her booth to grab it. This was the lane closest to the Toll Sergeant's office, and I heard from over my right shoulder, "It's a Greyhound!" So someone in there knew some history. Not quite accurate but close. I can't imagine what the toll taker would have done with that info. ("Hmm... here it is in my rate book.... M8 Greyhound..." Good think that's not how they charge us. I would have paid for an extra ton!Bulldog3rd wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2015 10:01 pmWell GBK-54-C (Hull #47) is now titled properly and preparing to start the restoration. It appears that Ord. NO 6725-C is now in possession of the Kansas National Guard in Topeka Kansas. She was transferred from the Eisenhower Museum. The put a battery in her, hooked up a gas can with an electric fuel pump and she started right up. I'll have to see if I can get up there to visit.

Re: M20 Survivor List
Hi Bulldog,
For what it is worth, USA 60132041 is an exact mathematical match to Ord. Serial Number 6725.
Clint reported from the old M8/M20 Newsletter that the "other number" of the next one SN 6726 was 3453.
Would be curious to know what the "other number" is on 6725.
I have a Disposition of Eqpt. Rept. from the 656TD Bn at Camp Campbell, Ky. dated 12/11/45, that has it that USA 60132041 & about 30 other M20s were transferred out of the unit. (They may have been replaced by M39 AUVs.)
The 656 TD Bn fought in the ETO starting in late Feb. 1945. First with M18s, then M36s after a month.
Don't know their history after that, but would guess that they might have been redeployed to Ft. Campbell in prep for the Invasion of Japan?

Re: M20 Survivor List
Hi all
Is there an M8 survivor list anywhere? It would be interesting to see such a list for the M8 as well, along with a note on both lists about where the vehicle is now, much like Tom’s Scout Car database.

Hello matheu29,
Yes, that would be correct based on my understanding of the formula but no doubt the resident experts on here will confirm.
