T 84 Transmission wanted
'43 GPW restoration project: I have a go devil block that may have come from a '42 Americar. The transmission I assume was replaced at the same time. It is a T 90. I am in Arkansas if anyone has one or knows of one.

I noticed that you have GPW blocks for sale. Anything close to 110748?

Re: T 84 Transmission wanted
I'm not on Facebook but I do appreciate the tip. Do you have any advice on a block number range that would be appropriate for GPW 110748?

I have a t84 transmission that needs to be redone, been sitting for years. $350. I am in Sikeston, Missouri. I also have several jeep parts for the mb,gpw, m38 and m38a1.

Re: T 84 Transmission wanted
Jay....There is a "range" of engine numbers to look for when restoring an MB, however a GPW would have rolled off the line with a frame number, data plate number and motor number that were all the same as they were build around the GPW motor number stamped on it at the Dearborn Motor plant prior to shipping to any Ford factory.
So...you either find "GPW<->110748" which is probably impossible...or find a GPW motor with a serial number anywhere close to that. To me, as long as it has a steeped boss for the serial number it is a viable candidate.

Re: T 84 Transmission wanted
Thanks for the info, Chuck. My frame and data plate match. Hopefully I'll find something close someday.

Re: T 84 Transmission wanted
As Chuck has correctly stated, GPW’s came off the assembly line with matching frame, data tag and engine serial number.
For many of us with non-matching GPW’s, we try to find a motor that is relatively close to the frame number...whether a few thousand numbers apart to within a hundred numbers. Some guys get extremely lucky and locate their long lost/separated original engines.
