WTB MB Engine/Block
Hello! Posted this in the engine sticky, but thought I'd post separately as well.
Looking for MB engine/block in the range of 238,000 +/-
Pretty flexible on the +/- range, since I had to estimate the frame number based on the tub number to lead to an estimated engine number. Kinda like a bad photocopy of a bad photocopy. This is to replace the 440 Americar engine currently in my '43 MB.
Located in the Midwest.
Thanks!

Do you have a ser no range, + or - is a little vague. Are u lookong for all the bolt on stuff too or are the parts on the 440 good.

Re: WTB MB Engine/Block
I'm pretty flexible on the +/-, but to be a little more specific, let's say +/- 5,000 for starters.
I don't need all the bolt on stuff as 440 parts are good, but I'd be fine taking an engine that had them if that was seller's preference.
Thanks!

I think i still have 1 in 290xxx and 1 in 270xxx. I would have to verify if they are still here and as to thier condition when i get home.

Re: WTB MB Engine/Block
The best I can do is 243379 cast on 2-24-43 which has no cracks and is 0.040" oversized on the bore.

Re: WTB MB Engine/Block
The frame tag is missing (PO welded plate there for steering box "upgrade"). So based off the tub number (120283) I estimate the frame number to be 218xxx (I believe tub and frame are original pair). From there I estimate the engine number to be 238xxx. But given the double estimate, the range is pretty wide.Michael O. wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2017 7:20 pmClosest I have is MB 213364...it's a Feb '43 block. What's condition of 213364 and where's it located?
Thx,

It is located in Maryland. Engine has been disassembled for inspection; all components are available.

Re: WTB MB Engine/Block
It's in original take out condition. It was stored at a warehouse (Sacks Brothers) since 1946 before I purchased it and about 20 others in the late 90's. I have not disassembled it besides pulling the oil pan off to check the machining date. Still has its original internals. I don't think it had a head but it may have....been about 20 years now since I purchased it.
Located in the same city as my signature.... Omaha.
