Looking for a GPW master cylinder heat shield in good condition. Does not have to be restored.

Be aware . the original was made from asbestos, so if you do find an original, make sure you coat it liberally in paint to contain any fibers that may floating on the surface.

Best alternative I found was to use Hardie plank made by James Hardie . Can be found on some building sites for free. It is fibrous cement and offers a similar heat shield as asbestos.
Sometimes Original isn't the best....

Cheers Jon

Tough part to find, most were tossed when master cylinder was repaired or replaced. Found a NOS GPW one on e pay it was in a pile of jeep parts that were junk other than the heat shield, paid less than 20.00 bucks blind hog finds an acorn every now and then.

I'm sure that's what happened to mine. I have the original master cylinder but the shield is long gone.

Jacob,

Have you checked with our #1 Original Parts Supplier . . . aka Jay Hinton? He might have one or two in his Bone Yard.

Yeah. Only had an MB. As much as I hate to do it; anybody know the quality and accuracy of the reproduction heat shields? The few items that I had to buy repros of were not all that accurate and I ended up either holding out till I found originals or paid top dollar for the few on the market.

Sam,

If it has stress cracks, it's a Ford.

Just kidding. I don't recall, but one (or both) of the "L" brackets should stamped with a tiny "GPW" and an "F" script.

I have one of these but need it for my gpw sorry. but funny thing is I would not have known what it is and probably tossed it if it weren't for the G. I've never seen one on any of the ww2 jeeps I've had (about 8) they are always missing
