It as more like 10 days prior to the DOD for the cast date then 5 days prior for the machine date(give or take a day). I wish it was that much time as I would have had a motor already. The jeep had the original motor when we purchased it but the bare block was stolen when sent out for work. We have the original head luckily and its cast date is 3-16 so that is what bound my search.

I sent 88602 to Napa in West York, PA for machining a few years ago. IT WAS STOLEN too.

After looking over info on what I have or had,

An engine has come up in the U.K. that is serial# 5767XX with a cast date of 3 19 45. I am looking for something in the states but still have that one as a last resort. Also that range of numbers were given to me by Tom and his database.

Still looking for something in the states. For the right price I would even take a generator set with the correct motor in it or even a project with the correct motor in it. I could always use the rest of the project for other things or sell off the rest of the project to make some money back. Thanks!

The closest one I have is MB-566799, cast on 2-28-45. Located at Merlin Hanson's shop in MD.
