Hi,
I'm looking for an original unrestored SOS Fire Guard fire extinguisher with some original OD paint & decal still on it.
Please contact me via PM (Private Message).
Thank you,

Just curious, were the Fire Extinguishers even painted? I thought they were left natural brass with varnish or clear coat and installed. Being under the dash meant it would not need to be painted for concealment, and the last thing someone cared about during a fire was the thing blending in with the surrounding foliage.

Were they painted? (I know Vietnam and up era did not paint theirs, but I have seen some modern tactical painted small extinguishers, perhaps done as they were mounted on the exterior of the vehicles)

Yes....they were painted prior to the decal being put on over the paint. This one, when mounted has that diagonal damage to the decal that matched PERFECTLY where the sole of your combat boot would rub against it when shifting.

Photos of the GP with an unpainted FE abound....but that isn't what we have here.
