WTB: Autolite temp gauge (photo added)

Post by Michael O. » Fri Jan 27, 2017 12:31 pm

I'm actually looking for two original AL temp gauges...one for for my '42 and one for my '44 MB. NOS is preferred but nice used examples are welcomed also. I did find an NOS SW for my '43 GPW so I'm hopeful to find some AL's.

I know there is a dealer who has decent reproductions but I'm hoping to find original examples.

Still looking. I need two in total. Will pay top dollar for an NOS gauge. Good used gauges are ok also. Thanks in advance.

Since I have a few more than I really need I'll offer to trade one of my NOS Stewart Warner temp gauges for an Autolite temp guage in similar condition.

Looking to buy two Autolite temp gauges. Even "the best" reproductions are painfully easy to spot...so I wish to avoid them.

Hi Michael
I did had a few of them and all gone for trade, I was after used and non working gauges I alway wanted to restored.
I also had another trick was when I received original temp gauges from friends and I use repro temp gauges take repro face, bezel, and needle off and put original face, needle and bezel in repro temp gauge. And once my friends put it in their jeep and dodge look 100% original and other people won't see repro housing behind the dashboard. I done this more than 10 times and they are all happy with it and had no proplem with it, I been fixing gauges over 4 years now.
I hope this help,
they are very hard to find NOS MB temp gauges, I always find a lot NOS GPW temp gauge on eBay.

Cheers Peter

Thanks Peter. Im looking for either used or NOS Autolite temp gauges. Having a gauge restored is not an issue for me.

Still looking for a nice Autolite temp gauge. I don't mind sending it out for restoration, so it doesn't have to be perfect...NOS or almost NOS is always welcome.

Still looking for an NOS or good used Autolite temp gauge. I can pay cash or, if you prefer, trade in parts (I also have several GPW and MB engines available if it helps sweeten the pot).

Hi Michael; I have what I believed to be an autolite working gauge on a Jeep I've just brought home, but it turned out to be an unknown type of gauge, sorry!
