Engine rebuild help in Colorado

Post by SmarT » Sat Oct 22, 2016 12:57 am

Hello all. Wasn't sure the best place to post this so I'm doing it in a couple places. I need to get my engine rebuilt and some light carb, transmission, and transfer case work done on my GPW. Can someone recommend a person here in Colorado who really knows their stuff? I need to get it done right the first time and have it last for once. I've not had any luck with that yet. One of the problems I've run into is because it's a military vehicle it's assumed it doesn't require a lot of quality care and attention. But it means an awful lot to me and the veterans that I've shown it to. I know there's gotta be someone out there who cares so thank you for any references.

Try Karl or Frank at G&S Auto in Littleton. They did an AMC 258 block, head, and crank for me over last winter and all dimensions came out great. I hear the block shop up north (Tony) does good work too, but since you are in Parker G&S would be closer. Block shop does racing motors primarily. BTW, I did my own assembly but I'm pretty sure they could help you with that. Can't recommend any one for the rest of your drivetrain. They will want to see your motor when it's apart if just doing machine work to see if they can fix it.

After many decades of great service my above referral has closed up shop. This leaves me seeking referrals for an engine machine shop in the Denver and Colorado Springs markets to work on a couple GPW engines of mine. Any leads greatly appreciated. Thanks
