Re: WTB: Early long needle speedo with one mile increments
There are TWO possibilities depending on what "early" means...
The Autolite Type II: Motometer: What is the DOD and serial number of your MB?

MB158963, mid July 1942.
Do these two types only differ by the producer?
Thanks for your help.

Go with the second one....it has a FLAT face on it....the other earlier ones had a cupped or dished face and were the "Autolite" speedos. This is a "Motometer".
EDIT: See below....go with counterbalanced Motometer!

Thanks a lot. Now I only need to find one. But I would also take an Autolite if I do not get a Motometer.

Hmmmm....found my speedo spreadsheet and it seems that after MB 145xxx or so....the long needle Motometer gave way to the counterbalanced Motometer. That would be the one with the oiler plug on the rear....not the waterproofed one that followed it.
Should make your search about only 25% as expensive though....
