All,
I'm looking for a non functioning filterette for esthetic purposes for my 42 Ford GPW. I'm bypassing the suppression in my restore. So I just need something that will look correct. Please let me know if you have or know of one that might be available.
Thanks,
Andy

Re: Looking for GPWFilterette
What is your date of Production?
Depending on the date there are several types.
I think this is general consensus:
Early 1942 - Tobe hinged,
Early/Mid - Sprague (Ford Marked)
Mid/Late -1942 - Sprague, Solar or Mallory (Ford Marked)
Late 42 on - commonly the Tobe 1107DEG, (not Ford Marked)
The earlier ones can be pricey and the late one is not. Solar and Mallory units are pretty rare. I do have a nice hinged if you have an early GPW. I also think I still have a Solar and Mallory.

Everett,
I have a March 42 GPW. So I suspect it would be the Tobe Hinged. I don't need it to work, just look right.

You require a Tobe 1107-G. Same filterette used in the Slat Grill MB.

Re: Looking for GPWFilterette
All,
Looking for someone with a tobe 1107 G filterette with Hinged cover that can give me measurements so I can mock up a cover for under my dash. I would need the measurements for the hinged part, the cover part that is over the actual filtette, the base that attaches to the firewall and the metal strap that goes around the back side to protect the bottoms of the filterette inside the box. I have pictures off of Jeep Draw. There are no plans for this so I'd like to see if I can't make it myself. Unless of course someone has a beat up cover that they want to sell me.
Thanks all
Andy

Re: Looking for GPWFilterette
Personally, I would just spend the money on an actual 1107 G instead of trying to fake one up. They do show up and your jeep will be better off for it!
If you don't care about originality, then you can actually still buy NOS 1107 DEG's. They are priced anywhere from $75 to $150.00 depending where you look. More commonly found than the 1107 G is the Sprague filter GPW-18960. This is the type with two slotted hex screws and has a Ford tag. This showed up in the summer of 1942, so not too far off from your jeeps DoD...would be a little closer for historical sake.
Just suggestions.
