There's one on Ebay for $81 now. The seller says it's nos but it looks like it's missing some pieces.

Re: WTB G503 temp guage
Niblet,
I assume you are going to want to use your NOS gauge for your resto projects? If so, wouldn't you be better to put the money into an original gauge and have it restored for what I am sure would be much less than the $1000 you offer, thus giving you a gauge with in new condition to match the freshly restored jeep. I suggest that option should be explored as your NOS gauge will highly likely have oxidised housing and capillary tube wrap, along with nut which bolts into the block pending type of nut, thus looking odd on the newly restore engine bay/jeep and would need to be rectified anyway to match the jeep pending wha type of resto you are chasing.
Your money would go along way with change I am sure to restore an original gauge in good condition which would then match the finish of your newly restore vehicle.
On another note, you may find your NOS gauge doesn't work when you find it. Having spoken to a few gauge restorers, companies and manufacturers over the years, the told me that no matter what the do, there are often gauges which don't work and will need to be rebuilt, even if NOS/new when tested.
I assume you've made phone calls to dealers asking and stating the $ you are offering? It is funny what many say they don't have but go later hear they did, it just took the right partto trade or amount of $ to get it off them.
However, if what I have said above isn't relevant and it isn't destined for a restored jeep, please ignore as I'm just trying to offer some food for thought.
All that said, you may just need to keep waiting. All parts turn up with time- original autolite Mb gauges show up fairly often on ebay. Often money isn't enough to pull them out of hiding.
Re the sparton. There was a NOS one on eBay a few years back sold by a dealer which sold for your asking price. I haven't seen one offered since, likewise your temp gauge, I am sure your money would yield a very nice straight original if you'd settle for it not being NOS. It does surprise me though that more NOS horns don't show up, or maybe they are out there, just not recognised as jeep!
Cheers,
Ian.
Edit: Add horn and frequency info.

Re: WTB G503 temp guage
I can confirm what Ian states. The soldering in the gauges gets brittle over the years causing them to leak. Have one myself (not for sale !) So a restored one would be best option.

No problem, Niblet. It's still there, though it is all the way up to $85 now.

Re: WTB G503 temp guage
No Worries Niblet,
I am not sure who does them. I know there are copious amounts of gauge repair places around the states and the world. A temp gauge is nothing special and should be an easy fix for a broken one and not too hard for them to also restore.
Perhaps just a general search on google or trying to contact some of the speedo repair shops people have mentioned here on the G? I also noticed Midwest military is restoring speedo's so maybe the can do temp gauges?
Apologies for the irregular and unreadable words or those missing letters (the not they!) in my post above. The iPad often misses letters as I type or re type when I notice the mistake!

Re: WTB G503 temp guage
I have a gpw gage with a corroded face and no capillary..broken off and a NOS early CJ Stewart Warner gage complete but with the wrong face and needle...but everything else a perfect match to the WW2 SW gage.
Laurent in France who did a great job on my King Sealey resto speedo quoted me approx $400 to restore the original gage using the nos SW CJ temp gage as a donor and to reprint the face.
I am still undecided what I want to do and have purchased a repro in the interim while I decide...not ready to sell it yet.
So I guess resto prices on the temp gage depends on what you have to start from.
I think if you search, there is a post that shows someone in Europe who had all his gages overhauled by Laurent including the temp one and they looked very good.

The temp Gage on E bay sold for $405.00. Wonder if someone on the G was able to get it.
