(Thought I would start a new thread rather than muddy up the other one). What was in the 'kit' that let you put a 2A042 engine in the 4 cyl mules? I understand the deck needed to go up a couple of inches, and the engine guard needed extensions, but what else was needed for the swap? Did they use an adaptor plate on the bell housing for instance?

On that same vein, is the deck higher on an A2 and A5 mule than a M274 or A3 or A4?

Tom and I had at one time about 150 retrofit kits and when I sold most of my mules and parts to Bill Watson I still had about 24 retrofit kits as part of the deal.

When we had plenty we would open one to get a muffler or air cleaner.

All bolts, nuts and washers for the retro
Air Cleaner
Starter Spacer and Template to cut the trans housing [No starter]
New Fuel Lines
2 Rear Bed Support Tubes and shims
Spacer Plates for the 2 interior Bed supports 2ea front about 3/4" thick 2ea rear about 1-1/8" thick
4 Extension Plates to drop the Engine Guard
Muffler and Clamp
I believe a throttle cable?
Modification kit for the shifter: allen socket stud, metal and nylon washer and locking nut
I believe Spacers to lower the shifting rod swing arms
A small red bottle of thread sealant
Safety Wire for the Drive Shaft Bolts

The NOS engines I purchased from Leonard Grove one invoice 3/23/99 for $875.00 included clutch and pressure plate, starter and hour meter.

Hello. I think this is the retrofit kit you're talking about. We have a new old stock one that's never been opened - we didn't really want to open it. We also were wondering what was in it. Good post, Muleman7 - thank you. Here are some numbers from the box if anyone needs them. If anyone has additional info, that would be great. If anyone is interested in it, please PM us. We have no idea what it's worth. Thanks!
