Mule Shoes

Post by Grummanflyer » Mon Jan 22, 2018 4:26 pm

Just ordered 4 new shoes for the old mule from Summit Racing. Scheduled delivery is 2/23/2018. Cost $476.00 skins. Free shipping . A box popped up and said these tires DO NOT have DENMAN on the sidewall. Not really sure what that means but I bet somebody does. Trying to get the old girl in shape for Knob Creek. Gunslinger would throw rocks at me if I showed up with whats on it now. They are so thin you can see the air inside.

Denman and Goodyear were the tire mfgs for the mules. The summit tires look like the original 7.50 x 10 tires but do not have the name Denman embossed on the side.

I am guessing that someone complained to them that when the got there tires they were no-name or not correct. So they had to create that pop up. I don't think they ever claimed they were Denman tires. Some people just can't be happy and complain about everything.

Lurking here. Don't own a mule . . . YET! But I have purchased NDT tires from summit and some Model T and some Model A tires from them. There prices are as low as anyone and free shipping is hard to beat.

I have bought a total of 9 tires now from Summit, and their prices and free shipping can't be beat. My only problem is that without the wheel slip of limited slip differentials, the front two are wearing on the outside tread at an alarming rate because of the tires scrubbing on the hard surfaces I drive on most of the time.

Well, Summit has rescheduled my tires three times now. New date is March 12, 2018. I'm beginning to think they don't know when in the hell they are actually gonna have them.

As you know from your own business sometimes it is hard to make a promise based on another party's performance. Please keep us posted.

I believe they are made overseas, I want to say in the Philippines, but don't remember now for sure but the country of origin is stamped in the bead. Getting containers scheduled for a ride over here can be difficult especially if you miss your cut off date for the boat because of manufacturing delays. Getting shipments rescheduled can take months. Coker acquired the original molds and used that fact in their advertising at one time. They did not acquire the Denman brand and had to delete the name from the mold and ultimately the tires. They're just disclosing that they are exact replicas except for the Denman name on the sidewall.

I ordered a set originally from Summit back a few years ago right after Coker got the molds.
They keep back ordering them month after month until I finally gave up and cancelled my order. I think this has happened a couple times since, with guys placing orders only to find out it is delayed over and over again.
I think the game is to gauge interest by taking orders then when they feel there is enough they make a run plus a few extras for stock.

Interesting you guys are having delay problems, I have bought 9 tires several years ago now over 3 orders and Summit shipped them promptly. I am sure that was because they had them in stock then.

Precisely the issue- having them in stock.
It does appear that the only time they restock is when they get demand orders as mentioned.

AutoShop Teacher called them today and was told they had 6 in stock in the Cincy warehouse. I called them and they said they didn't have any but that they had 6 on back order. I asked them why they had not responded to my earlier email inquiring as to when the expected them to REALLY be available. Got 2 different dates , one in the past and one future. Amazingly enough, when I got home, there was the obligatory song and dance email apologizing for the delay and saying they would be shipped two days from today and that tracking data would be forwarded when they ship. The new date on their website has now been moved to the last of this month. I have dealt with this crap from airplane parts vendors for 25 years where they list parts for sale that they don't have and they just collect up names until they think they have enough, then they run off a batch. In my opinion, such practice should be illegal as it is an obvious attempt to defraud in order to guarantee a future sale.

If anyone has the interest to delve into this there is a definitive pattern that has emerged ever since Coker started with this a few years ago. The same thing has been repeated over and over again. On the flip side, at least we still have access to original style tires, albeit requiring a fair degree of patience.

Since my tires are really cracked up and worn I decided to jump into line. My date is 3/26.

I don't mind waiting as mine are still holding air.
