Valve Position Plate

Post by Grummanflyer » Wed Jan 03, 2018 3:33 pm

Has anybody here got a Brunswick with the original valve position plate on it? I think mine may be a forgery.

Thanks

I don't know what you are talking about, probably a 4 cylinder? I have an A5 mule so that's probably different?

Its a 2 cyl A5 made by Brunswick according to the numbers. I would like to see a picture of an original valve location data plate to see if it has a plate ID number in the corner.

Mark, check your plate again, your mule was built by Baifield Industries - EMTEX Division.

As far as the valve plate, give John Emery a call, he has examples of every plate ever made for the mule and is making very accurate reproductions of most of them.

Maybe this will help, bad photo, but the valve plate is the middle one on the top.

Chuck, I was talking to John Emery yesterday about the correct data plates for my mule and he asked me if the valve position plate had a part number in the lower corner. He said he was trying to make some reproductions and his sample plate had been hit with a grinder in the corner and he couldn't read the number. Mine doesn't have a number in the corner at all so it's probably a fake. I told him I would ask on this board and that hopefully somebody had a machine with an original tag so he could finish the artwork for the ones he is making. All he needs is the part number of the actual tag itself.

10-4. If it was not so cold, I'd walk up to the shop and look at mine. Also have a friend with a very late Brunswick Corp A5 that I know is all original and will look at it. Will let you know what I find and you can report back to John.

I checked 3 A5 mules 2 are Automatic Sprinkler Corp Baifield Div. the other is Baifield Industries Emtex Div.

All 3 Engine Valve Positions Plates are Aluminum Colored with Black Printing and NO contract number.

Yes they should be Aluminum with black lettering according to John. I have not seen any valve position plates with the contract number but Emery says there should be one in the bottom right hand corner. He says he has one but somebody damaged it with a grinder and he does not have the complete number for his reproductions. Maybe Chuck can find a number or somebody will come up with one.

I have heard of this plate, but never seen one. Where should it be located?

Cold here in WNY, -1 ( without wind chill ) at the moment, and the temp is supposed to drop all night. Going to have to fire up the chain saw and haul wood with the Mule this weekend.

Okay, I'll check, that spot, I don't recall any holes there where it was in days gone by.
