m151 spark plugs in a mule?

I was wondering if the m151 spark plugs would work in a A5 mule?I guess the easy way would be compare the two plugs.Physically they might be different.
You'd think they would as it would mean more uses for the plug.

2223 vs 2245; wrong heat range for air-cooled engine.

Almost all of the military standard engines seem to use the 2223 plug as I have several 2A016, 2A042 (mule engine), 4A032, and 4A084 engines and they all use the same spark plug.

Here is a listing for 4 Autolite 2224 plugs which are the same as the 2223's other than they are just one heat range hotter plug. $5 each with free shipping is hard to beat.https://www.ebay.com/p/Autolite-2224/12 ... 0005.m1851

Not all that much, unless you are working your engine at 100% all the time on hot days, I doubt you will notice any difference, and if there was a problem the engine would ping and knock. What it does though is provide better ignition on a cold engine and will burn through oil better if your engine is getting tired with blowby. I believe that most of our mules experience the second running environment than the first one.

The Autolite 2223 spark plugs are no longer in production and these plugs will work great 99% of the time.

Common misconception on spark plugs is that a hotter plug makes more heat in the engine. This is not the case. Spark plug heat ranges are set at how well the spark plug dissipates heat, not how hot it fires. Spark plugs are constructed so that more or less of the plug shell is in contact with the cylinder head and Since the heat that the plug retains is proportional to how much of it is in contact with the head. Example: A one heat range difference may make the plug run cleaner, in the case that the engine was burning a little oil, because the higher heat range plug will retain more heat because it can't dissipate that heat to the cylinder head as quickly as a cooler plug can.

The 2245 plug used in the M151 engine would not dissipate the heat fast enough when used in the AO-42 air cooled engine and could cause pre-ignition which could damage the engine.

I just ordered a set since mine look like they have been stored in the bilge of the Edmond Fitzgerald :D
