Mule tires

Post by 3rdCoast » Sat Dec 02, 2017 10:10 am

The mule im working on is in need of some new rubber. Do the mules require tubes and flaps or just tubes?

What should the correct valve stem length be for the tubes? I have seen some on ebay listed as mule tubes but the stems look to be three inches long.

And the final question, who has the replacements to get my mule back on its feet?

Chris

One of our members sent me this link from Summit racing. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cok-517800/overview/. I believe these are just like the factory tires. I think we have some here using these tubeless too. You will need a special valve assy from Gemplers. I think John Emery Mule supply has tubes also.

Best deal on tires is the deal from Summit Racing, free shipping. Tube should be 7.50 x 10 with TR-15 stem. This is the 1-1/2" fat stem. The 3" stems are incorrect. John Emery has the correct tubes. I run mine tubeless with the stem from Gemplers.

Just checked online about ordering 4 mule tires from Summit. They indicated the tires would have to be special ordered and the earliest shipping date would be 2/23/18 if they were ordered today........ :o

It's worth the wait as these are the only correct tires on the market. These tires are made by Coker Tire in Chattanooga, who, as I understand, now owns the molds. In the past, they have limited the runs to batches of 1,200 - 1,800 tires and will wait until there is enough demand for another run. Might check with Coker directly. Seems like John Emery told me he was not going to stock tires but might want to call him and check.

I run my tires with tubes because if unloaded I set them to 4 psi for ride comfort and if I bark against a tree they are not likely to loose pressure if unseated. If loaded then 12 psi.

Summit Racing is the source for my stock of tires and tubes. The Tube needs the TR15 short stem to fill the hole in the wheel if you get the TR13 short stem then you will need a valve stem bushing.

Valve Stem Bushing for TR13 Valve Stem to fit 0.625 hole or TR15 hole.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I can't believe Summit Racing has a delivery date of February 23rd of next year! I will check with Coker, but if they don't have it I guess I will just have to wait until February

I put a set on order with Summit a few years back when the mule tires once again became available. They were back ordered so long that eventually I cancelled and found a set that another enthusiast had sitting around.
Like posted earlier, the manufacturer will only run these once they hit a certain preorder. I am sure Summit and others are simply not willing to order a couple thousand of these unless they have a pretty good order backlog.

Well worth the wait. Nothing looks worse than the wrong tires on a mule!

If I remember correctly Coker actually had them listed as NDT but you actually need NDMD tyres. I bought four last year and all the paper work said NDT but I received the correct NDMD ones.
