I purchased my alternator from John Emery, and only ran one wire. From the alternator to the "hot" terminal on the starter solenoid. There is a wire which runs from that terminal to the "+" terminal of the battery. That is it, on wiring the alternator.

Re: Alternator Question
I purchased the alternator shown in abbylind's post.It shows as a 10SI low turn on. What I received is model 7127-sen. Shows an alternator turn on speed of1991. Anyone know if this is comparable to the 10SI or should I be returning it?

Re: Alternator Question
They are essentially the same from everything I have read. I doubt that cut in speed is correct. Seems awful high since that same number alternator is used on some tractors that don't spin up that fast. I would try it and put a volt meter on the big battery post and see if it isn't charging after you rev it up once. Should read around 13.8 V to 14.2 V or somewhere close to those numbers.

Re: Alternator Question
If that is the alternator shaft RPM needed to start charging, I would think that shouldn’t be a problem as the crank pulley is 3X as big, so charging should start at 1,000RPM engine

Re: Alternator Question
Thanks for the replies. I did find that it is the same, just didn't have the 10SI on it.
