Yep, I agree, at least that is my guess too.

The "C" would be "Charlie" Company. Three companies in the 2nd Battalion - A, B, C, D.

The "C-12" would be the admin number for the scope.

John,

I would agree with GUNNUT, after Nam the 2nd Bn was inactivated at some point they came back (reactivated) as a Squadron so it could be, 2nd Battalion or 2nd Squadron 7th Cav. That is one of the problems with Army, Units go away and come back, reflagged as something different. C 2/7 while in country was part of 1st Cav Division, however after Nam some of the battalion's went to different Division's. Also agree with C-12 being admin number or vehicle number scope was assigned with that had M2 50 cal.
Just as an FYI; "This sight is intended for use on either the M2 .50 cal. Machine Gun (M2 reticule) or the 106 mm Recoilless Rifle (M40 reticule).
When the M40 reticule is used the right angle eyepiece is used.
The reticule gets it's electricity from a cable that goes into the front of the front lens element."

If you remove the front cover (big one) from the TVS-2, look into the center of the scope, there will be a black knob inside. Stamped into that knob on the outer edge you will see a number or markings. The "M2" is all I have ever seen; I have had numerous people look at theirs and all come back as being for the M2 Cal 50.

Looks like someone is going to be looking for the M40 adapter now!
BTW; I purchased the 1100BAv2 adapter from Brooke (prc-68) for mine and it works very well with the 4 AA batteries.
Good luck!

John,

You were talking manuals. A good all around manual for the 106mm RR is the Field Manual FM 23-82 dated July 1973. Lots of good information about the 106, plus use, care, and operation of the TVS-2 Crew-served night vision scope with 106. The last ones I saw were on epay and were not a lot of money!
