Night vision scope for 106

Post by jeeptj1 » Mon Jan 09, 2017 2:32 am

Anyone know if this scope---MX-7794B/TVS-2----will fit on the 106 and if so how much trouble to do it. The little i have read said it was probably on a mounted fifty or the 106. Any idea what they are worth working or not working.
Thanks john jr

sold one 6 years ago (a Hollywood scope - looks good but doesn't do anything worth a darn!) for $450 including the mount. Haven't seen one anywhere since.

Is this basically the same as a starlight scope first used in Vietnam? I recall the view was similar to a fuzzy monochrome display on our first generation PCs.

The AN/TVS-2 is the correct night vision scope for 106 & M2 cal 50. The one pictured above is correct, to mount on 106 rr, you need that elbow and mount adapter for 106. SARCO still offers the mount adapter I believe . The other scope AN/PVS-2 is for small arms. TVS-2 was for crew served weapons and yes both were used late in Vietnam war.

The attached picture was taken from a mounted TVS-2 on 106mm. In todays standard the "Star Light" scopes of that time frame are junk now. However to the collector of 106 it makes a nice add on to the display. The image tubes are usually what is wrong with the scopes out there and they are pricy. if you can find them, just for display "who cares". Just as an FYI, photo taken on a clear sky night with lots of stars shinning and barn is about a football field and a half away.

I paid $500 for one with the elbow, working about 5 years back. Intend on placing it on the .50 on tripod (without the elbow use)

JohnJ FYI, a couple of close up shots of the mount required for 106. Hope you can find a TVS-2 with this adapter still in it!
