Torn dust boot - What parts to replace?
So I have a torn boot on the front of my A5
I have read and understand the tech section on replacing the boot, but I'm looking for some advice on what parts in addition to the boot i should order when ordering the boot
My goal would be to complete the project, not get in and say "should have ordered that washer or shim or seal etc., and have to wait a week
I also don't want replace $100 in parts that "never seem to wear out"
Again, just looking for some general advice on what to replace while i have it all apart anyway
Thanks!
And since no good post is without a picture....
I'll attach one

Aside from the boot. I would probably have the O-ring and pin kit for the lifting eye and a seal for the wheel hub on hand. Hard to know if you have any other issues without actually having it apart, eg bearings/races, etc

I would replace the axle lip seal as well, they always seem to leak right after you do a boot replacement! If your mule has been well maintained and not run in deep water, the king pin cups and cones are probably OK, but there is no way to tell until you open it up and inspect everything.

Chuck, re axle lip seal. I mention the seal for the hub, are we talking the same thing?

Love your photo! Our beloved mules are about the only vehicle that you can look your doing a 'wheelie', and yet be at a dead stop.
