Magneto gasket

Post by Bowtie70ss » Mon Sep 22, 2014 6:15 pm

Could someone either post a picture or link or something of a magneto gasket? Is it a big thin O-ring or a thin paper gasket? Thanks!!

Dave

I did try searching here and google images.

It's just a paper gasket.

Do an image search for Allis Chalmers B magneto gasket if you want to see what it should look like.

Thanks, I ended up making the magneto gasket. There was no gasket at all to begin with. Can someone verify that I have this thing timed right?

I guess the pic isnt perfect but the yellow mark 1 tooth after the V is the mark on the timing gear.

That's the way I like to set the timing, most engines seem to run better and have faster response. BUT, some mules don't like it at all and must be set mark-to-mark. You'll just have to try it and see.

Chuck
Is it particular years that seem to prefer the mark to mark timing, or just random mules?
Thanks
Dave

I've only run across 1 mule that didn't like the 1-tooth offset timing, and I'm not sure that it didn't have other problems.
