Re: WANTED
Chuck, let me know if you find one. I need that black box and a new coil for my magneto. Or maybe a whole new magneto. You have any thoughts or advice?

Re: WANTED
Somewhere there is a warehouse full of these things, just haven't found it yet! A coil you can find, just find a FM magneto from a gen set, coil is the same, although the cap is not. John Emery has new magnetos, but they are expensive, but, hey, if you gotta have one, you gotta pay the price!

Re: WANTED
How expensive? I need one. My mule was crudely rigged by the previous owner to use AC Delco plug wires. There was a circle connector attached to the coil by a threaded post and nut, so my coil doesn't have the springs that make contact with the black box. Also, the black box missing is a real pain because I don't know where to find one. To make matters worse one of the threaded posts on top of the coil broke off so now it is useless. I have a set of original plug wires I'd like to use but I need some parts to make it work. A new magneto may be the way to go. It won't run without it unfortunately...

Re: WANTED
I'm probably showing my ignorance here, but will the standard 2A042 magneto work in a pinch? http://www.ebay.com/itm/200504410657?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

Re: WANTED
I'm not sure, somebody smarter than me would have to answer that. Not sure if what I need is inside that mag.

Re: WANTED
No, on the gen set mag, the plug wires come out the top of the cap instead of the side, and the wires won't clear the shroud. Internal parts are the same, but the photo you linked to is not the standard F/M AO42 gen set mag. That's a Slick Mfg.

Re: WANTED
Call John and check, but I understand that he does have some NOS mags in the $200 range, but I think he may require a core to trade in.

Re: WANTED
I sent mine to John to be rebuilt. Needs a new coil and a new cap and he is going to install a new point kit in it. I also was not aware of this but mine didn't have the vent line from the mag to the air filter so I'm getting the line and the fittings. I can't wait to get it back, it should run like a champ!

Re: WANTED
Yes,thanks! They don't have the correct part, the side-exit cap seems to be only used in the AO-42 mule application.
