Jason, do you have a photo of the data plate or do you know the serial number? That registration number of 233749 does not fit into any of the records I have. All the Baifield and Brunswick mule that were USMC had 300000 series registration numbers. In fact, I don't have any 200000 series numbers until I get way back into the M274 mules.

OK, I see, that's an M274. I think we were mainly discussing the Baifield and Brunswick A5's. That 233749 does fit the sequence for the few M274 models that I have in my database.

Also, notice the early long tube TOW system vs the shorter tube as seen on a lot of later vehicles. I'm sad to say that I saw a long TOW tube in a scrap yard in Albany GA many years ago (back in 1995 or 1996) I passed on picking it up b/c I had no idea what it was. I wish I had a time machine... (it's gone now, last I heard, most of the stuff was trashed at this place when the ower was busted for meth back in early 2000s.)

Found the following on the back side of the front axle near the right wheel and snapped a photo of it after scratching the scum off of the tag. Image

Was hoping it was the serial number. No such luck! I'm assuming the letters mean Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and the overhaul occurred in May 1983?

Regards...

That was an early picture of my TOW mule, I have since located all of the accessories. There is one other TOW mule I know of in Georgia that belongs to Eddie Tucker and possibly another on the west coast that has not been confirmed. Just got backt to work after a 4 month lay off my new job with the new company, the trip to Huntsville this year may need to be a fly in as driving may take too much time

Chuck

The wide tire A5 that I thought would have an A5 plate on it has a A4 plate. The mule is as released from Ft. Campbell with wide tires, fenders, electronic ignition, electric start kit, two wheel steer, aluminum bed and a overhaul tag from Ft. Campbell on the engine dating 1978. The A4 plate was on it when released. My opinion is that Ft. Campbell did a lot of cannibalization and switching numbers back in the day. Anyways here is its A4 number for your list: Serial 14194, Reg. 2E 8692, Date 10/64, Contract DA-33-019-ORD-4051 Manufacturer Kaiser Jeep. While I'm at it here are a couple more numbers: M274A4 Serial 13448, Reg. 2M 3233, Date none, Contract none. M274A2 Serial 94537, Reg. 2M 2491, Date none,Contract DA-20-113-AMC-36224 Manufacturer BMY.

Hello, Nick. We need a photo of your TOW now that you have it completed! That photo is probably Eddie Tucker's mule, I can't find my notes, took that photo in Huntsville at the museum rally a couple of years ago....he told me that you and he and worked together to locate parts for both mules. I don't know where I got that other name.

Lance, thank you very much for the numbers, I appreciate any thing that you can provide. Can you recheck that A2 serial number, 94537? I already have an A2 listed with the registration number 2M2491, but it has serial number BMY1252

That tripod alone is worth $5-600 if it is complete with all the leveling vials. The tube is priceless!

Chuck

I looked at the A2 plate again. It lists the serial number as 94537 and Reg. number as 2M2491. The plate is a government replacement plate that has the numbers scribed into it by the army. I parted this mule out years ago. It came from Ft Campbell and had wide tires. I do not know what is up with it.
