Strange T84 found (for sale:)

Postby ElwoodJayBlues » Fri Feb 29, 2008 7:01 am

Hi

What jeep is this T84 for?
Any ideas?
Could that be MA, or early CJ2?

Prewar, Fill spout on passenger side plus I like the pipe adapter for the fill hole. Post war would have been t-90.

This tranny is definately early type weasel. Later type weasel had 6 bolts on the cover and was a little longer. To compensate this lenght the drive shaft was shortened. I have no knowledge if it was fitted in other cars as well.....

Hi All
I have had a couple of the DJ3A 2 wheel drive jeeps.
they came from the factory with the T84 side shift tranny, not the t90.
You can check the numbers in the DJ3A willys parts book T84-AJ is the exact case.

this could be a weasel or DJ3A or prewar Studebaker.
Thanks
Ernie

Fellows,
This is a T24/M29/M29C weasel Transmission. The give away is the filler plug elbow extension fitted to the transmission housing. This was a field modification fitted to increase the fluid capacity of the transmission.
This transmission may be fitted in other applications but in this case I can confidently say it is for a Weasel.
Cheers
