i just purchased a jeep for parts for my 43 willys mb. i posted on the my regular forum and was told by some my new parts jeep is a slat grill willys. i was confused because it had a cj2 grill with the big chrome rings around the headlights and glass parking lights where normally i find a space for black out lights. the serial number is110479 and dod is 1-10-42. it also threw me because it had willys written on the back drivers side and it has no glove box. now i really not sure if i want to cannabalize this jeep now. its hard because i need so much for my 43 mb.

Sounds like it has a later front end on it. Don't strip it for spares, I would keep it as an early slat grill model, if the chassis and tub are in reasonable good condition.

the frame is in great shape on this slat grill tranny and transfer case are still in place even the bell housing and throw out bearing are still in it.as soon as i remove the tub i will post some pics.anybody in the market for a cj2 grill?

I also have body number 6394, but no frame.

i sold the slat with frame to a gentleman in stocton ca. the serial # was 110479 tub and frame matched

Can you please add my slatgrill willys mb to your list? I would be very grateful of any help with dod as I do not have the chassis ( frame ) number tag,nor do I have the nomenclature plates. What I do have is engine number mb 110885,running with good oil pressure at tick over & body number 9305, quite rusty with lots of filler but quite salvageable,original wings ( fenders ) & slatgrill, bonnet ( hood) its a calafornian import to the United Kingdom,previously used as a hunting truck,requireing lots of tlc. When I got my CJ2A in August a second engine came with it (central CA). Believe it is from a slat grill. SN# MB-100421 with F script head, Texas recondition tag 1945.

I would like some help again to estimate a serial number from a early MB, the jeep belongs to a friend of mine here in Brasil, the body number is 24,851, this body was made in december 1941 and the jeep possibly assembled at begin march 1942.
The aproximate serial number will be???

To add more information to your early MB serial number list I have the information of more three serial numbers identified 121.187, 121.376 and 123.475 , being the first two slat grill.


Any help will be appreciated.
