Re: FS Slatty Jeep
Hello Adam,
Good luck with the sale !!
Do you have any pictures of the body available and of the frame issues ?
There are some talented people out there who may be able to repair both !
Does this jeep have a glove box, being a later slat ?
Best Regards,
Ray

Ray, going by his serial number this is a pre-glove box Slat.

Thanks Michael !!
It is about 8400 higher than mine, so was just wondering .
It certainly has potential depending on the body and frame for someone.
Looking forward to more pictures.

Re: FS Slatty Jeep
Hello,
Thanks for posting the additional pics Adam,
I am sure it will help with the sale to a potential buyer.
I haven't seen a jeep like that since Hans Birnie's great restoration !!!!!
He made it into a masterpiece, so hopefully someone with skills like his, can tackle this slat grill jeep project.
Hood numbers are a nice touch to have survived the elements

Re: FS Slatty Jeep
I've seen some rough projects but this one is ROUGH! It would take a lot of $$ and time to restore this poor thing.
Any chance you could post a photo of the headlight hinge bolts? We have been looking at the orientation of them on various slatgrills and this one appears to be pretty original. Maybe it would shed some light at least.
I also have a couple of questions that could be answered if you could look at these items. Thanks

Re: FS Slatty Jeep
There are definitely enough parts to make it worth restoring....hope someone takes this on.

Cant make out the grill bolt, even with a x7 magnifier.
Bell housing with welded up cut out.
Looks like yellowish green primer.

Re: FS Slatty Jeep
This falls into the range of Canadian Slat Grills, or just before Canadian Slat Grill production, my CDN slat is 400 numbers higher than this one,
Just an interesting note.

Re: FS Slatty Jeep
Feb 5, 1942 assembly date on the transmission. Probably cast in early to Mid Jan 1942.
If it’s original to the vehicle (maybe since it appears to still have an early bell housing still affixed) then this should be an early Feb ‘42 MB.
Probably the original motor also. The serial number spread between the frame serial number and the engine serial number should be of interest to those compiling such data!
