Early Top Bow Pivot Bracket ???

Post by Mark » Tue Jan 23, 2018 11:38 am

Hi,

I see a vendor selling these top bow brackets and indicating that they are for the slat grill. He states the brackets were pressed and the lines are unique to the slat grill. I have never seen any information regarding this detail, is this accurate?

Thanks,
Mark

I have a pair of original GPW “F” marked brackets off a VEP GPW and they have the serrations similar to those on the repro one in your photo.

Hi Mark,

Below is a link to my Slat's restoration thread. Scroll down and you'll see an original Slat top bow pivot bracket. The lines are prominent on the bracket. I have seen a number of brackets from Slats that exhibit those lines. The reproduction bracket you have posted would be correct for a Slat grill restoration, however I do not know when in production the lines were omitted.

I have the same lines on my early MB and GPW brackets. However, those lines in the repop bracket above are way too deep.
