Corect front axle passenger driveshaft??

Post by Oddball42 » Fri Jul 14, 2017 12:21 pm

The drive shaft I removed from my front axle passenger's side seems wrong....no Castellated nut?

Is it wrong?
What is it for?

Anyone have a correct one for a Nov 41?

You have locking hubs. Different hubs use different axle shafts. Probably correct for what you have there. Would need owners manual for your hubs
To verify.

Thanks, I am removing the locking hubs and restoring this to standard hubs. The driver side had a standard threaded driveshaft. I wanted to check rather than assume..cuz that never seems to work out well!

Interestingly, most of the manuals seem to always so the drivers side detailed...

Guess you will need an axle shaft with the threads on the end then, if you only replace the outer end of the shaft assembly verify what joint is in there. Also might want to take a look into the tech section, I vaguely remember something about there being different bushings in the end of the spindle, the flanged bushing is for shafts that use a snap ring or no ring at all that sorta keeps the axle shaft centered on the turning axis?? and a unflanged bushing for the shaft with the nut that you actually set end play with.
