Thinking of Selling my Slat Grill

Post by 1941 Slat Grill » Sat Jun 10, 2017 7:40 am

I bought my Slat Grill many years ago with the intent of restoring it and taking it to Normandy in 2019. Other restoration projects have been slower than anticipated and I won't make the goal. My question is regarding the current market for Slatties, is it a good time to sell it? It's a Dec 1941 jeep in decent condition but needing a full restoration. I may also consider trading it for a fully restored run of the mill GPW or MB but I'm not sure how I'd go about that. The engine is a 100-200 or so off of the tub number, it comes with 5 solid wheels, extra engines, transmission, capstan winch blah blah blah.

Thanks in advance for your opinions on the status of the market.

My advice is......don't sell it. You're lucky to have one. It took me a while to find a restorable Slat MB project.

Youre absolutely right Michael, thinking about it Todd, if you have the room, hang on to it until you are ready to restore it, and while its sitting in the garage, it will still gain in value, as i said, the prices are going crazy, you have a rare jeep in your hands.

If you give me a handful of bolts from a 69 Mustang I can tell you where every one of them goes and what finish it should be. I'm not that way with jeeps. This jeep is special and needs to be in the hands of someone with the knowledge to do it right. I just want a WWII jeep to drive around.

I will send you some pics Mark, it's buried in the barn right now so it might be a couple weeks.

If you sell it, then you'll need to change your G503 name.
