1942 Slat
I took a look at this jeep the other day and it is a bit more and less then what is mentioned and pictured. after a quick glance it appears to be a slat grill production jeep. the engine, transmission, hood, gas tank, combat rims, steering wheel and grill are not. I believe all the gauges are post wwii as well. Front bumper looks like a cj2a? To me it looks like a slat frame and tub. The tub is pretty straight but there are many patched sections that DO NOT show up in the pictures. The top of both rear wheel wells have large plates covering the probably damaged original metal. The dash has a large patch that covers a large hole where the data plates would have been. the drivers side has three patches bolted on covering the step, the back corner behind the axe sheath and the area above the step. same applies to the passengers side except the seam where the front and rear side quarter panels join is rotted out a lot. the front floor is also highly patched and rotted as to be expected. The pictures seem to hide it well and are quite deceiving. there is also cancer behind the drivers seat on the rear floor. I made an offer that I thought was fair. Not sure if they will take it. What do you guys think its worth? Not sure if I over bid. I'm willing to pay a fair price but not sure what the slat prominence will do for it.

Like I said the top of the rear wheel wells are completely patched over with thicker metal. Both of the front step/fender mounts are completely patched over along with the areas right above. The passenger side front and back quarter panels seam is rotted pretty bad and there is a good size patch under the axe head sheath.
Any thoughts on value would be great. Id like to get the jeep but I am afraid the hidden rust might not be worth overpaying for.
Thanks for any input!!!!

Also the outer windshield frame has several inches of rust through on the skin. front and center where it joins the lower tube. I know it is to be expected but I am asking for an opinion on something that is much better seen in person. Thanks again for any input.

Re: 1942 Slat
Is the title good, correct and transferable?
Frame and body condition iffy. Engine condition?

Re: 1942 Slat
We came to an agreement and worked out a deal. I plan on picking it up tomorrow! There is supposed to be a clear matching title. The engine condition is unknown. The frame looks pretty good. The tub has its issues. I plan on preserving this jeep as apposed to a restoration. My plan is to take it back to its original paint. Make all mechanical repairs and replace the incorrect or missing components. thanks

Looks like a great candidate for a preservation. Can't wait to see your progress!

I did get the jeep and brought it home. I'm really excited! when the weather warms up I will pull it out of the garage and take some more pictures and start the paint removal process. A good portion will flake off easy. I will photograph the process.

A power washer will often remove water-based paint...
Check the title to see if the "VIN" number is:
1) the frame tag number
2) the data plate number
3) the engine number
