Re: Americar engine in a Slat grill
The 1942 Americar block has the enclosed cylinders like the MB blocks do and not like the open cylinder style of earlier Americar engines.
I blew up the engine number and I also think I can see a capital "M" on the raised pad. If it is in fact a mid-1944 engine, the casting date and the assembly date on the oil pan gasket surface would be helpful to confirm that.

I have a Willys Model 39 motor and besides the casting number it is near identical to a wartime MB block.
I believe the OP indeed has a mid-1944 MB block. I can also see a light "M" stamp on the serial number pad.

Re: Americar engine in a Slat grill
Gents, my apologies but I was away from home for a few days. As I said earlier: my Jeep is in a container on her way to Holland. As soon as she arrives I will look for the casting number, take some more pictures and place them here. But sofar I think there is consensus about the fact it is a MB engine. But a question about that: some of you said it's a mid 44 MB. But if that is so, why has it an early slat dipstick and tube?
By the way, before I bought the car I sent this pictures to another US expert and he also like Adam said it was a MB engine with a GPW cylinder head. Thnx for the answers.

Same reason it has a alternator,12volt battery and that fuel filter on there. And the missing oil filter. Things get changed and done to make these old jeeps work. The grill itself and the willys on the tub an no glove box are good indicators, but what if somebody assembled her in their back yard or a depo rebuild? I guess no data plates or vin plates on her? When you get into her and go over the major parts you might find a mismatch of everything or maybe even a bunch of matching parts.

Re: Americar engine in a Slat grill
Hello friends, today I got my Slatgrill. The enginenumber is starting with MB and the head is 100% Ford because of the original stampen F. Its missing the framenumber. (VIN is 11354) but the bodynumber is 15160. Does that number fit with an early Willys? Tomorrow I Will post Some pictures

I'm guessing, using info from my slat 118440 with body 18022, your body 15160, Looks to me like your last number is missing from title, My body is only 420 off, yet most slatties have bodies 3000 off. Were bodies FIFO, or FILO or who knows?

As I said on the KTR forum, we have MB II0247 with bodynumber 13772, so your framenumber is most likely 11354X. I think your jeep was delivered in the 2nd week of January 1942.
