SLAT SPEEDO?

Opinion needed. Trip odometer is there, and if the needle was completely gone, I'd asssume it is correct. What is this?

Without any pics of the rear of the case....

1) If the face is "dished" then it is a Type I or Type II Autolite speedo face
2) The screws on the face tell us it is either an Autolite or a Motometer (see #1)
3) The bezel is NOT an Autolite but may be a Motometer bezel
4) The pointer? Well you know it's not original to any WWII jeep speedo!

So...to me...#1 may be the deciding factor here since many needles can be used and the Motometer bezel can be made to fit the Autolite.

It's about 2 hours away, but looks dished to me.

I wonder if that is a HOLE in the face to the left of the odometer?
Maybe other pinholes on the face as well?

Not the BEST example for a rebuildable core I've seen....

Could be a hole. It's a 2 hour drive, I'm not going to look at it any time soon.

The photo is not clear but looks also dished for me... The roll font numbers also correct, you can try to remove later and we will be sure 100%

Here is another Slat Autolite face....more visible holes, many paint blisters hiding holes you can see from the rear.

Play nice guys. Listen, neither the face plate in the picture, nor the entire jeep surrounding it are for sale.

Returning to the post, what are your plans with this speedo? Restoration of this one or make one from 2? How are the internals? You have great DIY resto posts in the technical knowledge base... Hope to see this speedo living again!

As yet no clue. It's still mounted in the dash of an unrestored MB.

I'm just trying to sort out what's there & the needle was very interesting and aged to the extreme like the rest of the gauge face. I'm willing to bet it's original, maybe making this a non-jeep speedo?
