Hi guys,

Two questions:

1. Should my slat grill have a W2 engine ?

2. Should it have a black steering wheel or green ?

Thank you ?

Paolo

According to Nabholtz, you need the standard aircleaner (1st type with decal), and OD plastic steeringwheel. Not sure about the engine, I think the 'W' is just to tell what mold was used?

Not sure about the W2 engine marking Paolo. I have an engine in the 114xxx range and 134xxx range and both are W2 marked.
Thanks,
Andy

Thanks guys,

it actually has a W4 engine. But I don't know if in March 1942 they were already moulding W4 engines... What should I do ? Open it and see what data it has embossed inside ?

Hi,
Id go with a black plastic sheller wheel. All the unrestored MB's Ive seen in the high 12XXXX and into the low 13XXXX range have had black shellers (and we have a lot of them here in Australia in that range). Mb 128365 had a black wheel. It also had a 1st type standard filter with the decal (Oakes filter, not AC pancake). Here are some more pics of it- viewtopic.php?f=96&t=262338

If I can, i shall check my MB engine and see what number it is (both serial and casting)- it is a 133XXX engine number. Alteratively, and the best way to solve and potentialy move/sell that engine if you need to, is to open it up and look at the machining date on the oil pan.

Cheers,
Ian

Thank you so much Ian,

That jeep 128365 is amazing!

Does anybody know where I can find the decal for the air filter ?

Any chance to buy a black Sheller wheel ?

Paolo

If you don't mind repro, I think Ron has both:

Edit: Just noticed that Ron may be out of stock on the steering wheels.
