Canadian Slatgrill
Hi! I recently found an unrestored canadian slatgrill in the UK.
I'm looking for some more information and detail photos of a canadian slat grill
I also would like to know more about the:
* the two switches on the left side of the dash board.
* There must seem a blackout lamp on the back of the rear axle?
* and what blackout bulb should sit on the left headlight?
Regards, Bob
More pictures soon

Re: Canadian Slatgrill
Hi
You have found a nice survivor.
I do own 118768 and 119949...both from he CDLV 242 contract
The two switches and the left side of the dash are for the axle lamp and black out stop light
There should be a plastic data plate just over the switches.....or some remains under the two thinny screws (I do have reproductions plates)
There are several perticulat détails related to the CDLV'.s so before throing away parts....just document
A best start for you would be to get a copy of the parts book.
This jeep went out of the factory with solid rims, electric wiper motor and so...
Feel free to contact me for further détails.
Regards
Marc

I highly recommend you buy Volume 1 of Lloyd White's 5 volume series of books titled "The Evolution of the Willys-Overland MB Jeep". Besides containing much general information on the production of and changes to MB jeeps, Volume 1 contains an 82 page chapter about "The MB in Canadian Service" that includes a great discussion of the early slat grill MB's purchased by Canada. This chapter contains the complete Canadian Spare Parts Lists for the C.D.LV-241 and 242 MB's recommended by Marc, along with the brief Canadian Maintenance Manual Supplement. In my opinion, this book is the single best source of detailed information about your Canadian Slatgrill MB. It is available for purchase in Europe from JEEPEST in France:
http://www.jeepest.com/index.php?lang=en
Lloyd's Volume 1 will quickly get you up to speed on your wonderful early Canadian contract MB. Congratulations on its acquisition!
Happy Jeep Trails,

Re: Canadian Slatgrill
How about this Bob? Note also the white painted cover.
And the switch plate (I still haven't yet worked out how the stop lights were isolated using this switch?)
Another peculiarity is the blackout head lamp, mostly seen mounted in the left position with a bridge plate covering the right (presumably standard head lamp).
Its also worthy to note that the CDLV-242 contracts were specified with 2 x blackout stop and tail lamps fitted (ie the service stop or ruby lamp is not used).
This is a copy from the additional supplied parts for the contract.
