Extra Holes in Frame???

Post by Mark » Fri May 08, 2015 4:22 am

HI,

I am working on the frame horns on my 12/41 slat. I have some "extra" holes that I am not sure if they are supposed to be there or not:

The holes are in the identical locations on both sides so I wanted to check before I weld them up.

Thanks,
Mark

I will check my early frame later, but it appears they are factory.

Hi All, my DOD 4/28/42 Willys MB has these same holes in the frame. My '43 MB doesn't. I wonder what the use was?

Thanks,

Those holes were most likely for positioning the metal in the press when formed or cut. They might also have been for lifting or adjusting the frame in the assembly process? My jeeps have the one on the side and the others but not the first hole.
