136066 was found in Idaho then brought to Washington in payment for a job. I then bought it in Chimicum, Wa. I was able to trace it's history back to It being sold at auction by the Marine Corps. in Barstow, Ca. in 1946 if I remember right. Equipment going to and from the Pacific went through Barstow for the Marine Corps. It has several signs that it was brought back from the Pacific and other USMC jeeps with numbers close to 37229 were photographed there. It has a flat top pressed grill and glove box however the right side of the glove box door was replaced because you can see it had an m48 machine gum mount there requiring the door to be cut......Sean.

I have a 1941 willys mb script with no glove box , it serial number is 102711 DOD 12-20-41 however it has a stamped grill. can anyone tell me if this could be correct or if it should have a slat grill? How can i tell? also has gun brackets on the windshield and I'm told thats prob. later? Tall vs. short waist should be the size for that windshield. Thanks Richard

102711 should have a slat grill and short windshield with no gun brackets. There are also many other nuances for an early slat with the short windshield with many changes as they refined the design, especially during early production.

Lloyd White's Volume 1 on page 274 shows Budd Manufacturing not supplying the rifle holder until MB-261677 at the factory.

REAL jeeps have BAR GRILLES and FLAT FENDERS. The rest are imitations.
