I have an original slat GAS gauge that I want to sell, but am not sure what its worth. When I got it it was pretty rusty and nasty on the outside, so I took it apart to see if it was junk. There was a broken wire, but otherwise the internals look fantastic. I sandblasted the case, bezel ring, mounting bracket, and attaching hardware. Soldered the broken wire, cleaned the glass, replated the case, cleaned the glass, and repainted the bezel (leaving the very edges bare so as not to mess the paint up when recrimpining the bezel to the case. I planned on touching that up with a small brush. I reassembled it leaving the bezel uncrimped in case it needs any further work. At full ground the needle pegs full, but I don't have a potentiometer to test accurate ohm reading at all fuel tank levels. Everything is original on it minus the fiber washers (those had to be replaced) and one of the mounting bracket lock washers broke. It was just a fun project to tinker with, but now I'm ready to send this almost completed gauge to someone with a slat grill home for it. What would be a fair price to ask in its current condition?
