I am picking away on my Canadian Slat Grill restoration,
Awhile back I got the electric wiper motor to be installed however does anyone know what post the wire would run from the main light switch? And should there be a jumper wire from that post to the 30amp fuze on the back of the switch. I would think that the slat grills and the Marine jeeps would be wired the same.
Any ideas?
Jason

Re: Electric Windshield Wiper Motor
As far as I know there has not surfaced any info on where the Dyneto Electric Wiper motor was connected. If you have any proof of it to be connected to the "A" or "B" terminal on the main switch I would be most interested.jason m wrote:I am picking away on my Canadian Slat Grill restoration,

There is info on how the wiring is routed and secured to the windshield but no info of the wire itself.

Read this thread:

The wiring is on page 2.
If you get the new MB Jeep book from Lloyd White it has pretty complete information on the Canadian and reference to the USMC contract jeeps in regard to the contract relationship with Willys-Overland.
I've only skimmed both chapters dealing with the topic but I'm pretty sure there is agreement the Canadian contract Owens-Dyneto wiper motor is marked 1695 same as the USMC units and has the filter.

Re: Electric Windshield Wiper Motor
Frank,
I wouldent call it proof but I have the old light switch that i took out of it and it has an extra wire from one side of the switch to the breaker and is only about 3 inches long, both are still attached and rusted in place but this could also have been an add on later in life. I will see if i can find it over the weekend and get a photo of it.

Re: Electric Windshield Wiper Motor
Hi Jason:
The Canadian MB uses the same wiring harness for its Dyneto electric windshield wiper as does the US Marine Corps jeep, W.O. part A-5428. Below is a photo of Lloyd White's original USMC jeep, "Engagement", showing the lower insulated end of the Dyneto wiring harness where it connects to the far left post (when viewed from the front of the jeep) on the junction block on the firewall. My index finder is pointing to the black insulator on the lower end of the Dyneto harness wire, which is the topmost wire under the round head screw. Please ignore the vertical cotton covered horn wire that partially blocks my fingernail.
I hope this answers your question.
By the way, because you are restoring a Canadian Slat Grill MB, I can strongly recommend you purchase a copy of Lloyd White's new jeep book "The Evolution of the Willys-Overland MB Jeep." Chapter 9 by Eric Booth is 81 pages long, is very well illustrated, and thoroughly discusses the history of Canadian MB jeeps. Additionally, the last page in Peter Ferris' Chapter 8 on "Exporting the MB" sorts out which Dyneto electric windshield wiper the Canadian MB uses and explains why Peter's well-researched answer is correct. Information on Lloyd's book is found here:

Re: Electric Windshield Wiper Motor
Thanks Fred.
I got the book from Lloyd at Tower park last week and I also had a long talk with Mark T about the wiper but I am still not convinced that we have all the details for the CDN jeeps "correct" yet.
Since my Cdn jeep is a CDLV-242 it had a few details that is not the same as the USMC and the later 505 contract.
Check the list and you will see that even the screws that hold the clips where changed sometime between 242 and 505.
