Re: What gauges are correct for a slat?

Nice early long needle King Seeley Speedo that would bo correct for a GPW (early).
The VEP Slats had a 30-0-30 AMMETER and a GAS gauge....yours is too late for those...some VEP slat guy will be looking for the 30-0-30 one you have!

The 30-30 amp gauge and the GAS gauge were, as far as I can tell, all the way through the slat production. I have a early pressed grill WILLYS script that has both GAS gauge and the script tub. It is my opinion that the gauge was never removed from the dash however the ammeter was 50-50 and it also appeared to be original to the tub. So somewhere between the first slat and MB 131350, the gauges must have been running short and they probably put in what they had. Just an opinion. 8)

I edited this by adding a photo. The temp gauge is not original to the jeep. Unfortunately the original died about 2years after I got the jeep.

Hi,

herein attached a photo taken from internet showing a slat grill dash panel with original gauges still there

If you read in a good way the revised version of Nabholtz the change for ammeter comes during end of January (beginning of February) 1942. In fact my slat grill canadian contract should have -50/+50 ammeter.

Hoping this may help the discussion.

Best Regards,

Luigi
