Greetings all. A friend of mine is about to embark on his slatgrille restoration. He's owned it since the early 80's I believe. It is all torn apart and parts organized. He asked me to look it over and determine what parts are correct for the slat. Although I have much jeep knowledge and have been rebuilding/restoring them for 30 years, I could never focus on 'cataloging' serial numbers, DOD's, contract numbers, etc.
Could someone tell me the approx. DOD and possible serial number of this jeep since the only apparent number is from the toe-board gusset...18628.
My slat's gusset number is 4 digit and is serial #105557, DOD 12/19/41, so I'm guessing his would be Jan., early Feb. '42. Not a late slat because he has no glovebox. Any help appreciated.
Craig

Hi Craig,
this will be tough...body tubs with 18XXX numbers run from MB-115100 to MB-117100...
straight math adding the tub number to frame number average delta for ACM I tubs on QMC MBs is: 18628 plus 98200 equals MB-116828...

Hi Craig, I'm in the process of restoring MB Slat ser. # 116292 with a gusset number of 18926. If you do the math between the gusset numbers your ser. # should be 115994 or darn close. Probably late Jan early Feb DOD. Best regards, Don

Don:
I'm the guy whose Slat Grille has a gusset #18628. On your recommendation, I've assumed the serial #115994.
Since your jeep is quite close (in manufacture date) to mine, I was hoping that you might have the hood numbers for your Jeep, so that I can do a little extrapolation and come up with a reasonably close hood # for my Jeep.
Any help would be appreciated.
