Can anyone tell me about the shoulder patch on the upper left arm?

This was taken in 1943

Thanks in advance,

It looks a lot like the Ranger Patch.

See my attachment.

The patch looks tombstone shaped with a diagonal bar. The bar may be striped.

The Ranger patch is diamond shaped.

Look at the gut on the second guy from the left--he's no Ranger!

Yes, it is Wreck.

Sid taught martial arts to the Army, the OSS and in his early eighties he was teaching martial arts to Seal Team 2. At age 87 he was teaching gun take-away techniques to Air Marshals. He taught and trained his whole life. A fascinating man and quite a patriot.
