I watched show called wheeler and dealers
This Guy from the UK of all places was able to buy a newer Humvee (running) for under 10K. He had hundred's to choose from.. Why can't the general public here in the USA has the same opportunity. He resold it here in the USA too...I am banging my head over this.

The Military has been selling surplus soft skin Humvees for about three years or so through Govplanet.com

Its all put on for the T.V, For the record those two guys have had a major fallout, so no more shows will be made. That Mike Brewer never got his hands dirty anyway, the idle B@#@#@D.

WHEELER DEALERS is the name of the show. I have watched it for years. It is still on. The new season started a few weeks ago. Mike just has a new mechanic.

They did not get that truck for under 10k. They paid $12,500 for it, and it didn't even run.

Edd the former mechanic left the show of his own accord, He and Mike
are still friends. The problems were between Edd and the production company.
Mike is extremely hands on and even more so with the new Mechanic Ant who
happens to be a very capable and well known mechanic in the UK.

Re: I watched show called wheeler and dealers
I saw a show with Ant [the new mechanic] yesterday & he was a better presenter on mechanical things [why, what & how explanations] than Ed China, IMO.
I read where Ed reckoned the new production company was going to cut short his type repair work BUT the programme I watched was quite the opposite.

Re: I watched show called wheeler and dealers
I hate to think on some young guys with no business savvy watching that show, buying a car, putting a load of money and time in it and only getting back as little as these guys do. I watched them make a few "quid" on a vehicle that so much time and effort was put into. The early shows most cars were just rigged to beat hell. Not very professional and very little quality IMO.

It's a TV show!!! Dont treat what you see on TV as reality and you
will get through life much better.

Re: I watched show called wheeler and dealers
I've watched a few new episodes with Ant on board...and he seems a very capable guy. However, Edd China was the perfect foil to Mike Brewer so in that respect I think the show has lost a couple points with me. Besides, Edd is a big guy and getting him into some of the smaller cars they bought was pretty interesting (I'm 6' 4" and 235 lbs myself) so I could relate.
Guys...its a TV show! They didn't restore the vehicles overnight and the premises seems to have included Mike often running down cool vehicles, odd vehicles and anything from a Corvette to a Mini Cooper....Edd is then tasked to "sort it out" and Mike goes on parts hunts or gets some restored. Lots of details fall out of the final "cut"....still the goal was to "Make a few Quid" and they entertained you during the episode. Ant does that also, albeit with a much different personality and interplay with Mike...but to the same end.
You have Richard going nuts in Dallas in the "Gas Monkey" garage and the crazy stuff on the show featuring Dodges, the Foose shop, the Count in Vegas and a few others out there...seems they all have a following and aside from some being budget restos and some being ridiculously expensive car upgrades for rich guys...they are entertaining.
They all feature a cast of characters and talented restoring experts...along with a few questionable builds as far as I can see with the modifications they do. Hey, throw enough money at any piece of junk and it can turn out to have a "coolness quotient". Might not be for me or you, but watching the process can be interesting/entertaining when compared to what we incur with our MVs.

Same height as me Chuck, for the record Ed China is 6ft 7ins. Yes he is a big "UN", he fitted into a jeep ok though, mind you he fitted into most of the cars on the show.

Re: I watched show called wheeler and dealers
I know it is just a show. I was just saying that if there is a reason that Ed the mechanic would want to choke the clean handed Mike, it would be because Ed works his tail off and Mike buckles under and sells the vehicle for peanuts. not mean to start anything for the fans. I am just saying that if I were doing all the hard work I would not leave the selling process to that clown. P.S. I know they get paid to do the show. If not they would have starved to death after episode one....
