XM966 HMMWV prototype $25k
Dropping the price to $25k. Trades considered.
This is one of three of the General Dynamics prototypes to survive and is the only one in private hands. It has a clear title and is road legal. This was originally titled in the 90's and a true title not a grey "try not to get caught" title.
It is all original with the Deutz F8L 610 air-cooled V8, Chrysler A727 transmission, and New Process 218 transfer case. It has 1186 total hours and 2715 original miles. It comes with an original sales brochure, a spare hood assembly, and a spare transmission and transfer case.
I have been told by several reliable sources (including people that were at Ft. Lewis at the time) that this vehicle was used as a parade vehicle by General Schwarzkopf when he was at Ft. Lewis. There is evidence that it was used as a parade vehicle, but I haven't seen proof that General Schwarzkopf used it.
This vehicle has been in a museum for most of the last 20 years. It was started briefly 3 years ago, but a mechanic should go through it before it is fired up and driven.

Re: XM966 HMMWV prototype
Well the specifications state 13" of clearance but the front A-frames look lower, I see why they didn't win the award. It would be a good addition to a collection though, out of my budget.

Re: XM966 HMMWV prototype
Yes, clearance is around 13" and it really is a shame General Dynamics didn't win the contract. The Deutz air-cooled engine is a 500k mile engine, gets about 20% better fuel economy than liquid-cooled diesels, starts within 15 seconds at -26 C, and will run at a 60% incline without any special equipment. The Torqueflight transmission, New Process transfer case, Dana front and rear mean lot of parts availability. The doors are even kevlar lined for crew protection. Also, the way the entire hood opens up makes it REALLY easy to work on the engine.

I have quite a few pictures on the website I put together on the vehicle including a page dedicated the Deutz engine. http://xm966hmmwv.com/deutz-f8l-610-engine/
Here is one image to tease you.
