What do you like most about your humvee?
I've heard many humvee owners discussing what they don't like about there truck but few talking about what they do like.
What do you like most about your High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle?
I'm not much of a look at me kinda guy but i would have to say that what i like most is that i'm the only guy in town that owns one. hehehe

What I like most about owning a humvee:
1. It DOES get respect
2. Any kid under 12 thinks its totally cool
3. I can change the whole frame
4. I like the people I have met due to buying it
5. Because of owning a humvee I have the best job I have ever had
6. I can say I have gotten action simply from having the truck (and my email stenciled on back in military font) <---the real #1 reason
7. They are rare and a cool sight to see
8. Fixing it and working on them is really simple and easy (frame/engine)
9. I like the thrill of the hunt to find not so easy parts to make it better

what do you like most about your humvee
The thing I like most about my Humvee is the Pressure cup that that regulates the crankcase pressure in the vent lines for the deep water fording system. Super simple item that does it's job well.

That mine starts, runs, steers, brakes, and is in parade condition just like it should, and I dont have to do hours of wrenching to enjoy it. Juts do the normal maintaince on it and go.. Thats what makes me happy.

I would have to say being able to drive right up to the firing line and shooting out of the turret at the local range.

HMMWV?
Well, i dont have a HMMWV, probably never will.
As an alternative, of course, instead of a HMMWV (and if I were a really, really cheesy guy), I would get an older civilian H-1 (maybe even a really obnoxious bright red one). Then I would strip it down and add enough stuff to it to make it about 98% like a M1025 armaments carrier HMMWV but without all the military hard miles, age and wear. Then slap a little tan paint on it. Then I would drive it around town daily, pick up all the chicks, and fire my M2HB off the turret every once in a while just to look cool!
oh, wait, that's what I did!:)
Austin in Texas!
43' Ford M8 Greyhound w/Live 37mm
67' Saladin w/demil 76mm (dang!!)
43' GPW
93' H-1/HMMWV conversion Armaments Carrier
Lots of Live Machine Guns, Cannons, live FLAMETHROWER, and other cool stuff you can own in the US and Texas!

Joel,
I've had my truck in a river with water 1/3 of the way up the windsheild!
It's waaaaay cool!
The things I most like about my truck are.
1) its so capable.
2) It has always got me home
3) I genuinely enjoy working on it
4) I like the 'presence' the humvee has, and
5) the genuine interest that people have in knowing about it.
Cheers

What I like most about my Humvee is that every flaming kid in San Jose DOESN'T own one!!! There are so many zippy little Japanese xcars around here and I can DRIVE OVER ALL OF THEM!
That and it'll start a conversation faster than dropping $100 bills in the VIP room.
