On the My Humvee Website ( item # 10403 )is a tachometer for 6.2
Anyone fitted this unit. Seems to be a lot of cabling for a tachometer.
Where is it designed to be fitted on dash? Is this unit used on any Mil. trucks ?

Hi George,
The tach mounts to the doghouse on the LHS.
(opposite side to where we Aussies sit )
It is designed for the ambulance and shelter carrier configuration which do extended idling periods and has an over temp shut down feature.
There is a 6.5 variant to which mounts up above the winshield in the centre.
But it too is designed to face the LHS.
I've got some pics of the install of both tachs....somewhere
Cheers
Brad

Interesting. I've seen that kind of tach kit before, but I didn't know it was intended for that use. Is there a provision to engage a governed speed for running heavy electrical loads (like a commo shelter), or do you just pull out the hand throttle and run the engine open-loop? What's the big toggle switch for? Does the tach get its input from the RPM sender that's normally just connected to the STE/ICE-R plug?dunsbr wrote:It is designed for the ambulance and shelter carrier configuration which do extended idling periods and has an over temp shut down feature.
Since I've configured my truck as a shelter carrier, I'd consider putting in a 100A or 200A alternator sometime. I've wondered about kludging in some sort of governed fast idle mode for running a heavy electrical load.
