slugish starter.....

Hey gang....

Lately my starter seems to be slow its first few revolutions when starting the engine cold... then it spins over at the normal speed... just wondering if anyones got a suggestion on whats the cause or a cure
Truck hasnt been off roaded in a while so its not dirty....

Maybe the engine is causing the problem? Does the oil look ok? Does the engine run hotter than normal? I was just thinking that the pistons might not want to move. After a few revolutions, they could free up.

Hi Joel,

My guess is the starters on it's way out.
It takes the most torque to get things turning over after that the torque requirement drops down.

IMHO I'd drop the starter and have it rebuit before it lets you down.

I agree, the starter is in its way out, you should get it rebuilt before it fails.

just to double check, the batteries are all good and staying charged, correct?
Need any HMMWV parts? (998, 1123, etc..) Let me know, I am parting mine out.

I would bet on the starter needs an overhaul.
