I sometimes just drive my humvee over to the national guard unit maintenance yard and have ask the mechanics to take a look, at that time if need you could barter a mechanic to help you off duty for compensation.

One of the guys (ricky) who works out at Ted's Trucks off US hwy 84 (dothan) could help ya out. Call James , the guy who looked you up a while back, on his cell 685-3818 to get a hold of him.

Be careful with taking your HMMWV into a military motorpool! In Atlanta during the great HMMWV auctions, there were many marine mechanics working down at the auction site helping getting the vehicles started and checking them over. This was done on their off time and I believe everything was legal. One enterprising Gunny figured he could take that model into his motorpool and work on HMMWV's and offer maintenance services and DX parts for civillians etc... I think the money started to be too tempting and it got too big and eventually caught attention up the chain of command. I believe the Gunny was sent to prison, not sure but I think that is what I heard.

I think its a great idea to offer the military mechanics work during their off duty hours.... IIRC from my time as an armor officer, they have to clear it with their superiors (probably just for Active Duty)... Just be careful they are using your parts and not bringing goodies from work or offering DX services....

Cheers,
Tony
